EuroHPC User Days 2026
The consortium developing the EuroHPC Federation Platform actively participated in the EuroHPC User Days which took place in Dublin, Ireland from 22 to 24 September 2026.
In this blog post, we present an overview of our activities at this event.
EFP booth
At the booth dedicated to the EuroHPC Federation Platform (EFP), attendees of the EuroHPC User Days could get more information about the platform, ask any questions they may have, see it in action through a pre-recorded demo, or even try it out themselves hands-on.
Stickers and flyers were handed out to inform people about the features of the platform that is being developed. In additon, we promoted both the upcoming webinar series and the open position that the HPC team at Ghent University currently has to work on the integration of EESSI in the EuroHPC Federation Platform (apply by 11 Oct 2026!).
This led to various interesting discussions, and people being genuinely impressed with what has been achieved already.

Integration with EFP by EuroHPC Hosting Entities
We are actively working with the EuroHPC Hosting Entities to further integrate the current and upcoming EuroHPC infrastructure with the EuroHPC Federation Platform.
This came forward during the plenary session Celebrating EuroHPC JU ExaStars – Alice Recoque and JUPITER:
Plenary talk
The EuroHPC Federation Platform was presented by Alberto Lanzanova (CSC) during the Federation & Hyperconnectivity: Benefits for Users plenary session, which was moderated by Lilit Axner.
At the end of the presentation a recorded demo that showcases the capabilities of the platform was shown, narrated live by Alberto.
If you missed this talk, you can download the slides in PDF format, see the recorded demo above, or watch the recording of the plenary session:
EESSI hackathon (fringe event)
Next to the official program of the EuroHPC User Days, a hackathon on EESSI, the European Environment for Scientific Software Installations, was organized on Friday as a fringe event, hosted by Trinity College in Dublin.
Attendees got a quick introduction to EESSI, which is the base for the Federated Software Catalog of the EuroHPC Federation Platform.
After an in-depth explanation on how additional software can be added to EESSI, they explored doing this themselves, with success!
